HKU - Projectenmarkt KMT

Eigenlijk is het super belangrijk om betrokken te blijven bij studenten in ons vakgebied. Zo ook bij de KMT van de HKU.

Vandaag (21-01-2010) was een uitgelezen moment geweest om eens te kijken wat onze opvolgers allemaal aan het doen zijn. Ook ik ben een HKU-er (91-96) en ik vind dat de kwaliteit van die school op een lekker niveau ligt. Graag zou ik dan ook meer projecten willen zien en mensen/studenten willen spreken over hun visie en dromen.

iPhone as RFID Tag and RFID Reader coming spring 2010!?

RFID tags are more functional and flexible than barcodes. While barcodes are cheaper and getting traction in the U.S. with the QR format, the potential for RFID tags is even greater. Apple knows this and if rumors are to believed, RFID will be integrated into the iPhone 4G later this year.

According to a number of believable blog reports, RFID is set to be a part of the as yet unannounced iPhone 4G. Apple holds a patent for a touch screen RFID tag reader and is said to be testing an RFID-enabled iPhone currently. So RFID could be a feature of the iPhone 4G as soon as Spring 2010.

2010 spring Imagine using RFID reading technology on books so you can place the iphone a certain way on the book and it knows what page you're on and how to show animations. So instead of placing the iphone on one fixed position, it can be placed anywhere on the page. That way it can function as all sorts of "windows" of animations.. Experiments with tilt-shift, retro-look and google- maps

I did some test with the tilt-shift techniques en retro-actions and suddenly i'm using the google streetview images to make old postcards from. It's a great and rich database of milions of nice spots to make postcards from.. Just add "greetings from.." and your card is ready..
Its weird and cool at the same time to see modern interface elements (like the arrows and lines coming from the google streetview layer)

This could be a great service google-maps could privide it's viewers..That's what I think!

op de CES 2010. Weer een pico projector maar deze is sterker.

Microvision heeft op de CES een compacte videoprojector geïntroduceerd waarmee je video bestanden vanaf je iPod, iPod touch of iPhone op een muur kan projecteren. Het idee is niet nieuw en vorig jaar zagen we op de CES ook al bedrijven die projectoren voor de iPhone lanceerden. Probleem was alleen dat de lichtopbrengst van die projectoren minimaal was waardoor er alleen iets te zien was in een geheel verduisterde ruimte.


je kunt dus ook presentaties doen..dat scheelt weer gesleep met de beamers.

Smashing magazine has put together a list of must-see User-experience videos. It seemed a pretty imprtant list and its a long one. take your time. I'm sure it's worth it. they wrote: We’re all mostly accustomed to educating ourselves by reading articles. Microsoft en sensors

Gelezen op engadget: Microsoft Research patents controller-free computer input via EMG muscle sensors


We've seen plenty of far-fetched EMG-based input methods, like the concentration-demanding, head-based NeuroSky controller, but Microsoft Research is asking for a patent that involves much simpler gestures -- and might actually make a bit of sense. As demonstrated in the video after the break, Microsoft's connecting EMG sensors to arm muscles and then detecting finger gestures based on the muscle movement picked up by those sensors. It does away for the need of a pesky camera (or Power Glove) to read complicated hand gestures, and can even sense modified versions of the gestures to be performed while your hands are full. Microsoft's developing a wireless EMG sensor module that could be placed all over the body, and while like all Microsoft Research projects this seems pretty far from market, there's a small, optimistic part of us that could see some of the benefits here for controlling mobile devices. And boy do we love controlling mobile devices.
