Who is it for?
Designers, Developers, Clients and anyone who wants to share iOS designs.

Does Upstage replace other tools?
Upstage supplements your usual bag of tricks. Personally, we still use project management software for the communication part of design approval. After the design is approved, we upload it to Upstage and rearrange the files to follow the flow of the application so the client can click through. It makes the app feel like it's coming to life even before the development part has begun.

How is Upstage Useful?
We created Upstage to improve project communication by supplementing the tools we already use (like Basecamp, Google Apps and a few others). Basecamp is great at project management but it's easy to lose an important comment when it's buried in a thread. To make it easier on ourselves, we started compiling folders of approved design work but passing those folders back and forth became a giant hassle. So we made Upstage. We use it as a spec for the most recently approved design work.

A happy coincidence is that clients really like to see iOS design work wrapped up in an iPhone/iPad chrome. We help take the sting out of all that design work by doing it for you when you upload your files. For us, using Upstage has saved a ton of communication overhead between designers and developers as well as between designers and clients. It's usually easier to point to a picture than to explain a thing with words.
