Sadly, only our Japanese cousins will be able to buy the Opera software at first. It will come on a standard DS game cartridge and will cost the equivalent of £18.
Happily, it’ll make use of the console’s touchscreen and stylus. There will be two browsing modes, one which spreads the web page over both of the DS’s screens, and one in which the entire web page is shown on the bottom screen, with the top screen used to zoom into details.
You’ll also be able to hand write the URL directly into the browser using the stylus – and in either Japanese or English.
Sadly, there’s no word of a UK release for the DS version of Opera yet, although it is rumoured that it will reach the US early next year. Looks like we’re going to be late to the party again.
